Managing Day to Day Operations – The LMS should be fully capable of handling learning content for both teachers and students regardless of how the lessons are delivered. If you wish for your employees to learn by reading and answering a set of modules, learning from discussion forums or chat rooms, or any other means, your LMS should be able to continue managing and monitoring progress. Testing and Assessment – Teachers or trainers shouldn’t have any problems uploading or creating tests with the use of the company’s learning management system. Likewise, students shouldn’t have a hard time gaining access to and answering any such test. If students need to observe certain testing rules like completing the test within a definite period of time, the LMS should be capable of enforcing them and restricting access if they’re violated. Scoring – The LMS should make it convenient for the teacher to score tests as much as possible. Of course, this depends on the type of test administered – essays, for instance, would usually require the teacher to personally read the essay rather than having the system search for key terms with each student’s answer. Your company’s LMS should also be able to display the respective scores and other related information to the students. Companies always have the choice of either building or buying a learning management system. When making this decision, you should consider critical factors like time, budget, and other resources.
